Expressions of interest invited for translation of training manuals31 Dec 2014

The Centre for Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture (CAPSA) is inviting qualified candidates to express their interest in contractual assignments under the SATNET Asia project to translate the following training manuals into four languages. Sharing Knowledge on Pro-mountain Policies and Legislation, and the Impact of Climate Change in Pakistan21 Dec 2014

In November 2014, the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) conducted two seminars to promote sharing of knowledge and networking among national partners.  The first seminar took place on 27 November on the occasion of ‘Pakistan-ICIMOD Day’ and focused on pro-mountain policies and legislation. The second event on 10 November was about the impact of climate change on agriculture in Pakistan and its implications for food security.

 

FAO launches Asia Pacific Agricultural Extension and Outreach Network – APAEON19 Dec 2014

A new network designed to share the latest agricultural knowledge among Asia-Pacific governments and other stakeholders and extend that knowledge to front line farmers, fishers and other land users was launched on 17 December 2014 in Bangkok. The joint launch involved FAO, the Asia Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institute (APAARI) and CAPSA.

Call for applications for the best innovations in the agriculture and forestry sectors to fight against the impacts of climate change24 Nov 2014

AFD and Cirad invite all innovators from Africa, the Mediterranean, Asia, Latin America and Overseas Territories to submit their applications for the innovations competition Climate Challenge Agriculture and Forestry. The aim of this competition is to support innovators and encourage them to make ideas and techniques reality, in order to address the challenges that the agriculture and forestry sectors need to face due to climate change, and support sustainable development.

SATNET Collaborations Accelerate Technology Transfer to Smallholder Farmers05 Nov 2014

As part of its activities to strengthen South-South dialogue and intraregional learning on sustainable agriculture and trade facilitation, SATNET Asia is working with diverse stakeholders to reduce food insecurity in the Asia-Pacific region. An example of such partnership is the recent intraregional study tour programme involving South and South-East Asian smallholder value-chain actors that took place in Cambodia, India, Nepal and Thailand.
