The Second International Conference on Creativity and Innovation at Grassroots (ICCIG) took place from 3 to 5 December 2012 at the Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, Tianjin City, China, and from 7 to 8 December 2012 at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The conference was attended by 65 and 150 international delegates in Tianjin and Ahmedabad, respectively

On 19-21 September 2012, staff from the Food Security Center (FSC) of the University of Hohenheim, Kathrin Kriesemer and Detlef Virchow (among others) attended the Tropentag conference that was held in Göttingen, Germany. Kathrin presented the SATNET Asia framework approach and first results in the oral session entitled "Knowledge, learning and extension". A blog post about the presentation on SATNET Asia encourages readers not to miss the call for applications for best practices in sustainable agriculture, the second round of which has just been launched.
The writeshop on translating research findings into knowledge accessible to extension workers and farmers took place from 12 to 14 November 2012 at CAPSA in Bogor, Indonesia. This capacity building event aimed to improve the existing knowledge gap between research and practice that was also confirmed by the baseline study of SATNET in May-June 2012. The programme targeted SATNET participants from Southeast Asia. A total of 19 persons participated in the writeshop, representing Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, and the Philippines

On 16-18 October, CAPSA participated in the International Seminar on Enhancement of Grassroots Competitiveness for Poverty Reduction in Yogyakarta to present a paper entitled "Innovation Network for Food Security and Poverty Reduction." The seminar focused on improving the competitiveness of grassroots innovations (GRI) through scouting, research and development (R&D), commercialization and networking.
